We are looking forward this year to another great show, following our very successful level of entries in 2011 and we aim to improve year on year and in 2012 we hope to see the finest goats ever. The goat section, along with cattle, sheep and horses, shows the public that we are a true agricultural show.

 

Goat Show Classes 2011

601 Female Goat, any age, in-milk, entered in the Toggenburg section of the Herd Book
602 Female Goat, any age, in-milk, entered in the Saanen section of the Herd Book
603 Female Goat, any age, in-milk, entered in the British Toggenburg section of the Herd Book
604 Female Goat, any age, in-milk, entered in the British Saanen section of the Herd Book
605 Female Goat, any age, in-milk, entered in the Anglo Nubian section of the Herd Book
606 Female Goat, any age, in-milk, entered in the British Alpine section of the Herd Book
607 Female Goat, any age, in-milk. Any other variety
608 Goatling, that has not borne a kid, over 1 year but not exceeding 2 yrs, entered in the Toggenburg or British Toggenburg section of the Herd Book.
609 Goatling, that has not borne a kid, over 1 year but not exceeding 2 yrs, entered in the Saanen or British Saanen section of the Herd Book
610 Goatling, that has not borne a kid, over 1 yr but not exceeding 2 yrs, entered in the Anglo Nubian section of the Herd Book
611 Goatling, that has not borne a kid, over 1 year but not exceeding 2 yrs, entered in the British Alpine section of the Herd Book
612 Goatling, that has not borne a kid, over 1 year but not exceeding 2 yrs, Any other variety
613 Female Kids over 2 months, but not exceeding one year, entered in the Toggenburg or British Toggenburg section of the Herd Book

618 Milking Competition, for goats of any age, to have kidded once only

Goats in Milk, (double pen) entered in both milking & inspection £3.50 entered in milking or inspection only £2.50 • Goatlings (single pen each) £2.00 • Kids (single pen per two kids) £2.00 • Prize Money:- Goats in Milk (Inspection & Milking Comp)-1st-£10, 2nd-£8, 3rd-£6, 4th-£4, Goatlings & Kids – 1st- £5, 2nd-£4, 3rd-£3, 4th-£2

The Yorkshire Building Society Trophy- awarded to Best Goat in Show • The P B Trophy awarded to Best Milker in Show • The Paul Brown Shield awarded to Best Goatling in Show • The Stephenson Trophy awarded to Best Kid in Show • The Sovereign Pearl Silver Plate awarded to Best British Alpine Milker • The Cardin Trophy awarded to Best British Alpine Goatling • The Shaloulie Trophy awarded to Best British Alpine Kid

 

British Goat Society Awards 2011

S1 A Challenge Certificate for the Best Goat that has borne a kid • S2 A Challenge Certificate for the Best Inspection / Production Goat • S3 A Breed Challenge Certificate for the Best Goat that has borne a kid in each of the following breeds; Anglo Nubian, Saanen, Toggenburg, British Alpine, British Guernsey, British Saanen, British Toggenburg & Golden Guernsey • S4 A Certificate of Merit for the Best British Goat that has borne a kid • The “Heffer” Challenge Trophy for the Best British Alpine Female Goat, Goatling or Kid.
